What should I consider when choosing a dentist?
There are a few aspects that you should consider:
- Are you comfortable with that dentist or with the distance to that dentist?
- Are you going to be able to go there if you need something?
- You should consider the time. Are they open at a time when you can make it there?
- Are they capable of providing you with the correct service?
I would also check the reviews and see if people who have had the service are happy with it. If I'm looking at their website and they only have five reviews, then everybody knows, well, basically all the siblings of the doctor and maybe the staff wrote the reviews, right? Because there's not enough reviews. But if you have, let's say, five, six hundred, or a thousand reviews and people all have similar ideas, then of course I would give them a chance and go and try it for myself.
How do I find an expert in cosmetic dentistry?
You also want to go on the website and see what the before and after pictures are like. Do you like the results? If this is something you're looking for and you see pictures of somebody else who got that service and they're really happy with it, then of course I would visit the office, ask them for their opinion, and see what it would take for you to get the services from them. Then take it from there.

Most dentists can do restorative work, but you want to see before and after pictures when you're there. Talk to the dentist and determine whether that expertise suits your needs.
A lot of times, people will consider something small, but you need to see how that compares to the rest of the mouth. If we're only talking about small procedures, does it fix everything that we need, or does it just address some issues and not the global thing? We don't have this helicopter view of the entire health in mind when we plan something for the patient. Experience, I guess, is what you need.

One thing you can do is call your insurance company, or you can call the office that you really like and ask them. For example, we may participate or not participate with particular insurance as a participating provider, but we will still provide the services and get you money from your insurance whether we participate or not.
